SystemRescueCd 1.1.5 Is Out

Just a little over one month after the last release, François Dupoux announced today the 1.1.5 version of his popular Gentoo-based Linux distribution, SystemRescueCd. Coming with an updated Linux kernel, now at version 2.6.27.14, SystemRescueCd has better support for reiser4 and ext4 filesystems.

The latest version of GParted, 0.4.2, was included in the release, bringing ext4 and LVM pv detection. Also, for speedier file searching and help, the whatis/locate databases were created.

Highlights of SystemRescueCd 1.1.5:
· an updated filesystem backup and development tool - sys-fs/fsarchiver 0.4.1
· the sys-boot/grub is now at version 0.95 -r9 being able to boot from ext4 partitions
· the kernel module and utils for brtfs filesystem reached version 0.18
· sys-fs/ntfs3g (that brings ntfs full read-write support) was updated to version 2009.1.1
· the issue with autorun scripts copied in the root of the cdrom not being executed was fixed
· important ext4 fixes come in the form of an updated sys-fs/e2fsprogs to version 1.41.4
· the recent updates for the ext4 kernel were backported from linux-2.6.29-rc
· app-arch/tar was patched in order to bring support for xattr/acl/selinux
· the sysresccd-cleansys package, broken on portage-2.2, was repaired

SystemRescueCd, a Linux LiveCD, is a quick and easy way to repair systems and recover data after serious crashes. With tools ranging from partition managers and disk diagnostic mechanisms to basic day-to-day applications (text editors, midnight commander etc.), as well as support for all important filesystems, SystemRescueCd is a solution that anyone who is experiencing data loss or other system related problems should consider.
